Our tyres whizz through the Cape Epic

The 20th edition of the traditional mountain bike pairs stage race kicked off yesterday in South Africa. The Cape Epic is considered a sort of off-road equivalent of the Tour de France and was started at the Lourensford Wine Estate.

At the start we could see not only the holder of Olympic gold and silver in cross country, but also Filip Adel, who is riding on our tyres. The Slovakian duo Janka Keseg Števková and Martina Krahulcová also took the Scylla together with Rascal. We believe that our tyres will support them even in such difficult conditions and they will go for a great position in the overall standings.

Already the opening prologue on the 26 km long route in the wild countryside showed the riders both its beauty and its difficulty. But despite the high temperatures starting in the morning and the sand that was all around, the riders did very well.

The girls from 8capitol finished 8th in 1:23:28, 8:43 minutes behind the winning duo of Anne Terpstra and Nicole Koller from Ghost Factory Racing. The boys from the Superior Lions team finished the prologue in 21st position with a loss of 6:16 minutes.

Today's race has prepared 88 km and 3,000 vertical meters for them. The Cape Epic will run until 24 March and the finish is scheduled in Stellenbosch, South Africa's second oldest town. Riders will have pedalled a total of 613km after the race, having ascended nearly 17,000 metres.

We cheer for our riders, cheer too!
